Now is a Time to Listen

Today was the day that I planned to officially announce the launch of Now What Weddings. The date does not hold any significance, but after receiving several rounds of feedback from friends, family, and a small network of industry colleagues, I feel like the site is at a good point to finally let people know that it exists, and Monday, June 1st seemed like as good a date as any.
Since the tragic death of George Floyd on May 25th, anger and outrage across the United States of America has reached an all time high, and this weekend, as the protests turned to riots, and cities coast to coast began to burn, it became clear that there is a more important topic that needs to be discussed today than weddings.
This morning I made the decision to delay my launch; the time is not right, not today at least. Emotions everywhere are fully charged, tensions are high, and while this project is important to me at the moment, and hopefully will be significant for others eventually, it can wait. There is no reason to attempt to direct traffic to my own site when there is so much information to be shared and education to be done as people try and find the words and ways to discuss the issue of race and racism in America. Now is a time to listen, and so I will wait.
